FULLERTON, Calif. (April 8, 2008) - Due to continued record increases in the cost of raw materials and energy, Yokohama Tire Corporation announced it will increase prices on its off-the-road (OTR) tires up to five percent and on medium-truck tires by six percent, effective May 2008. There will be in-line adjustments, as well, which will be announced at a later date. Light-truck and consumer tires will not be affected by the increase.
"We have been doing our best to contain the soaring costs of raw material, manufacturing and transportation," said Dan King, Yokohama vice president of sales. "Unfortunately, Yokohama's pricing must reflect these record costs."
"Yokohama remains committed to bringing the best products to the market at competitive prices by integrating operational efficiencies, environmental procedures and the latest technology," said Jim MacMaster, Yokohama executive vice president, Business Division. "However, currently it's an extremely difficult business climate and our costs continue to rise."
