Technical Engineer

Responsibilities:
- Develop testing plan based on schedules and objectives defined for each project. Involved in all tire testing activities – field monitoring testing, outdoor on-vehicle testing and indoor testing
- Evaluates fleet operations, vehicles, routes and loading for testing suitability. Develops and evaluates field engineering equipment and methods to maximize efficiency and value. Control of test resources including test wheels, test tires and all tools and equipment
- Supervises test installation, conducts regular inspections, and analyzes and reports results. Maintains regular contact with testing accounts to stay on schedule and control testing activity
- Provides technical input to development engineers based on field performance including competitor’s performance conditions
- Respond quickly, effectively and professionally to any test performance issues with sensitivity to customer satisfaction and preservation of Yokohama's reputation and assets
- Maintains good relationship with dealers, sales staff, end users to collect information and provide advice in product application, service, maintenance, and if necessary
- Participates in quality activities including ISO programs, quality reviews of market performance, warranty claims, customer reports, TQIS, etc. Leads corrective and preventive action plan development and accomplishment
- Provides engineering support to Warranty administration and Consumer Affairs. Plans and participates in product launch events and assists Marketing with any product feature and benefit information if necessary. Complete other tasks as required by the supervisor
Education/Experience:
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills
- Self motivated, ability to work independently
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Travel – 60%; must be willing to relocate
- Demonstrated ability to define, develop and execute tire testing procedures and use of various test equipment and tools
- Basic statistical capability
- Established contacts with test companies and/or vehicle fleet companies an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to control complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and fully understand technical information

Strategic Pricing Mgr.
In this newly created position, the Strategic Pricing Mgr. will be responsible for managing Yokohama pricing programs in an actively changing market, manage the tracking of price positions of Yokohama product relative to competitors and across retail and wholesale accounts. Recommend pricing actions when necessary. Maintain a detailed knowledge of Yokohama's position, consumer programs, and competitive actions. Recognize and analyze pricing variances due to geography, product segments, and the sales distribution channel of all treads. Monitor and report on tread profitability by dealer and the impact on profitability before and after pricing actions.

- Create efficient price benchmark reporting tools tailored for use in specific departments
- Make recommendations on pricing actions to remain competitive and maximize profitability

- Recommend new product pricing and soon to be replaced product pricing based on competitive market knowledge and desired positioing

- 6 years related experience in sales/marketing analytics. Tire industry or automotive experience a plus.
