LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 30, 2007) - No trick, but certainly a treat: a free 2008 Volvo C30. That is what Yokohama tire dealers will vie for during a special blackjack tournament at Yokohama's SEMA Show booth (#40709) on Tues., Oct. 30, from 5 -7:00 p.m. Called "Beat the Odds," the single-hand elimination tourney offers big prizes to the winners, including a cool 2008 Volvo C30 (equipped with Yokohama S.drive tires) for first place, and $5,000 and $1,000 in casino chips for second and third place, respectively. The new, turbocharged Volvo has a T5 5-cylinder engine which kicks up 227 hp, good for a top speed of 149 mph. It's been fitted with aftermarket suspension, exhaust, wheels, audio and styling enhancements.
"Beat the Odds has become one of the most anticipated events at SEMA by our dealers", said Dan King, Yokohama VP of sales. "Excitement for it has been building up since August and it will be very rewarding to see three dealers walk away with prizes, including one ultimate winner with the key to the 2008 Volvo C30."
According to King, qualified dealers will earn a seat at the tournament through a sales promotion program Yokohama conducted from Aug. 1 through Oct. 15. Two blackjack tables will be running simultaneously during the event, where participants will be dealt one hand. If they win, they move on. If they tie or lose, they are out. (Some dealers may have earned up to two "bust-free" cards during the sales promotion, and they can be used to reverse a bust card.) Players will continue through the rounds until three participants remain. Each will receive a key that unlocks special cases that have the chips or the car.
"In these types of sales performance promotions, everyone wins," said King. "They are fun, motivational tools that dealers love."
