Tire Dealers Win Car, Money at Yokohama SEMA Event

Las Vegas, NV (November 4, 2008) - Terry Baker of Foree Tire Distributors in Denver won a $70,000 Superformance MKIII car in Yokohama Tire Corporation's Beat the Odds blackjack tournament at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Scott McClain of S&S Tire, Lexington, Ky., finished second and won $5,000 in cash. Third place went to Jeff Weightman of Tire Works Total Car Care, Las Vegas, who collected $1,000 in cash. More than 30 Yokohama tire dealers participated in the event which took place in the Yokohama booth. Baker was overjoyed and completly surprised he won the car, which was fitted with Yokohama S.drive tires. "This is a really cool car," Baker said. "I can't wait to drive it around Denver. My wife didn't believe me when I called her and told her I won. She thought I was kidding." McClain said winning $5,000 felt "really great." Weightman said he was happy, too. FULLERTON, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2008) - Continuing to partner with well-known sports teams to market its line of consumer tires, Yokohama Tire Corporation has signed sponsorship deals with three National Basketball Association (NBA) teams, according to Dan King, Yokohama vice president of sales. With the season in full swing, Yokohama is partnering with the NBA's defending champions San Antonio Spurs; the Boston Celtics, the team with the league's best record this year; and the Golden State Warriors, considered one of the most exciting teams in the Western Conference. more>>

Yokohama Plants 30,000 Trees at Hiratsuka Factory

FULLERTON, Calif. (Jan. 16, 2008) - During the next decade, Yokohama Rubber Company (YRC) will plant 500,000 trees, creating nearly 25 acres of new forest. The sites for tree planting will include the Hiratsuka factory community, as well as six other Japanese facilities and 11 overseas affiliates. In the United States, Yokohama Tire Corporation's (YTC) Salem, Va. facility will expand the existing forested area by almost a full acre by 2014. more>>

Yokohama Tire to Adjust Prices

FULLERTON, Calif. (Nov. 30, 2007) - Due to the continued record increases in the cost of raw materials and energy, Yokohama Tire Corporation announced it will increase prices on its consumer tires up to seven percent; medium truck tires and light truck commercial tires up to four percent; and Off-The-Road (OTR) tires up to five percent, effective January 1, 2008. The Yokohama Rubber Co. Holds Opening Ceremony for Onomichi Second Plant

FULLERTON, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2007) - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it held an opening ceremony for the second plant of its Onomichi Plant. The Onomichi Plant is located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and specialized in the manufacture of off-the-road (OTR) tires. Approximately 60 invitees, including construction machinery makers -- users in both Japan and overseas -- tire dealers and the Onomichi city government, attended the ceremony. In his greeting speech, Tooru Kobayashi, Director and Corporate Officer of Yokohama Rubber, announced that the company would further increase production capacity of Onomichi Plant by 2.2 times that in FY2007 to 2,500 tons a month in FY2012. more>>

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 30, 2007) - No trick, but certainly a treat: a free 2008 Volvo C30. That is what Yokohama tire dealers will vie for during a special blackjack tournament at Yokohama's SEMA Show booth (#40709) on Tues., Oct. 30, from 5 -7:00 p.m. Called "Beat the Odds," the single-hand elimination tourney offers big prizes to the winners, including a cool 2008 Volvo C30 (equipped with Yokohama S.drive tires) for first place, and $5,000 and $1,000 in casino chips for second and third place, respectively. The new, turbocharged Volvo has a T5 5-cylinder engine which kicks up 227 hp, good for a top speed of 149 mph.
