Tire Label Misprint

09/08/2025

Yokohama has delivered some tires that were labeled improperly. Some labels include a mismatch of the numerical “ply rating” and load range letter. The tire sidewall stamping on these tires is correct. The mismatch may cause confusion during tire selection or inventory management but does not affect tire performance.

Turn Up Separation vs Flow Crack

This bulletin describes how to identify the difference between a turn up separation and a rim cushion flow crack. Both conditions occur in the lower sidewall of the tire and may be confused for each other, but they occur for different reasons and can be treated differently.

Yokohama Mississippi Casing Splice Recall

Yokohama Tire Corporation is initiating a voluntary recall of certain tires manufactured in The West Point, MS plant in 2022. The recall is because of a manufacturing anomaly. Tires may experience sudden air loss from a sidewall blowout, resulting the potential for reduced vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Yokohama Mississippi Tread Base Compound Recall

Yokohama Tire Corporation is initiating a voluntary recall of certain tires manufactured in the West Point, MS plant in May and June 2022. These tires may have been manufactured with an out-of-specification tread base compound. There is potential for a portion of the tread to separate from the casing of the tire increasing the risk of a crash.

P-Metric/European Metric Replacement Guidelines

Passenger tires in the United States are available in two size designations: ‘P-Metric’ and ‘European Metric’. The difference is easily identifiable in that P-Metric sizes begin with the letter ‘P’ whereas European Metric sizes have no alpha designation. This bulletin gives guidance on replacing P-Metric OE fitments with European Metric tires of the same nominal size (section width, aspect ratio, and rim diameter).
