Yokohama Mie Ply Separation Recall

BACKGROUND
Yokohama Tire Corporation (Yokohama) has decided that certain Yokohama Light Truck tires fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 49 CFR 571.139.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Yokohama Tire Corporation has determined that a safety defect exists in certain GEOLANDAR M/T G003 light-truck tires manufactured at Yokohama's Manufacturing facility in Japan’s Mie prefecture between May 31, 2026 and June 6, 2026.
The recall, initiated in accordance with NHTSA regulations, was issued because the tires may have been manufactured with an improper compound in the sidewall. Reduced adhesion may cause carcass-ply separation, air leakage, or rapid air loss. Loss of inflation pressure can reduce vehicle control and increase crash risk.
The subject tires are:

WHAT WE WILL DO
Yokohama will replace, free of charge, any tires subject to this recall with tires of comparable value. This replacement includes the cost of mounting and balancing the replacement tires. If a single tire needs to be replaced, Yokohama will allow both tires on the axle to be replaced with new Yokohama tires. In the case of a dual assembly, Yokohama will allow both tires in the dual assembly to be replaced with new Yokohama tires.
If you choose to replace your tires subject to this recall with another manufacturer’s tires, instead of receiving Yokohama replacement tires, Yokohama will offer a pro-rated tread depth credit of the original purchase price. In addition to the regular warranty claim handling allowances defined in the Yokohama warranty claims procedure manual, a $30 per tire mounting allowance will also be credited.
