PRATTVILLE, AL – (May 8, 2016) – Playing in front of her mother, Ariya Jutanugarn shot a final round of 72 to win the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. Jutanugarn, who became the first player from Thailand to win an LPGA event, edged Stacy Lewis, Amy Yang and Morgan Pressel by one stroke to capture the tournament title, which was played on Mother’s Day at the Senator Course at Capitol Hill along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville, Alabama.

“What a great champion and an incredible week of golf,” said Hideto Katsuragawa, CEO of Yokohama Corporation of North America and CEO of Yokohama Tire Corporation. “This really was a classic.”

The tournament, traditionally held in late summer, moved to Mother’s Day weekend to enable LPGA golfers to participate in the Rio Summer Olympics. Nearly half of the potential Olympians for women’s golf (representing 21 countries) competed in the 2016 Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic field.
