Stacked Race Week for Yokohama Tire Corporation Motorsports

/Consumer News, Motorsports

FULLERTON, CA (March 12, 2014) – From Florida to Nevada, Yokohama Tire Corporation’s (YTC) motorsports teams will be in action this week. YTC will be competing at the season opener of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, March 13-14 at Sebring International Raceway, as well as the Mint 400, March 15 in Las Vegas.

“The motorsports program at Yokohama has a wide breadth,” said Duane Sampson, YTC manager, motorsports. “And this week, it is compacted into just a few days on both sides of the country. It’s a great opportunity to show the versatility of our tires.”

First up is the fast-paced GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, where all Porsche GT3 Cup cars will compete on YTC’s orange oil-infused racing slick, the ADVAN® ENV-R2™. “The season-opener at Sebring is always a special event and this is the sixth consecutive season we have been partnered with IMSA and Porsche,” said Sampson. “This year the competition will be wide open because only four of the top 10 finalists from 2013 are returning. We’ll have more than 30 cars competing on the ENV-R2 on both the 991 and 997 chassis.”

Next is the Mint 400 – the “Great American off-road race” – where Yokohama will field three Trophy Trucks for the first time. Cameron Steele, Heidi Steele and Josh Daniels will pilot the rugged trucks, which will run on specially engineered 40-inch GEOLANDAR A/T-S® R tires. “Josh is going to debut his twin-turbo truck at the race, and Heidi and Cam are always ready to compete,” said Sampson. “All three will truly test the capabilities of the powerful, all-terrain performance of the A/T-S R tires.”
